Is Astrology of the Devil? What does the Bible say about it?

As an Intuitive Astrologer, I have heard it said that Astrology (among so many other things) are of the Devil! Now, it is no secret that I am far from being a Christian and I don't subscribe to the Bible as most do. I have a totally different vantage point on the Bible, but that is another Blog for another time.

Those that I speak to are Christians and do subscribe to the Bible so I wanted to come from that vantage point. I recognize that most Christians haven't read the majority of the Bible, but has gone off of a few of the same scriptures and what was TOLD to them without any further self study. So I believe it is important to have this conversation about Astrology by going to scripture.

Before we discuss scripture, let's define what Astrology is to gain clarity.

Astrology is the study of the placement, movements and relative positions of celestial bodies, such as the sun, moon, planets, and stars, and their purported influence on human affairs and natural events. It is based on the belief and Scientific study that the alignments, aspects and interactions of these celestial entities at the time of a person's birth or during certain events can Energetically influence personality traits, life paths, and worldly occurrences.

Here are some known Scientific FACTS regarding the effects in our every day life

Circadian Rhythms and Lunar (Moon) Effects

• Scientific Fact: The moon's phases have measurable effects on Earth's natural systems, such as tides, and may influence human biological rhythms.

• Link to Astrology: Some studies suggest a correlation between lunar phases and human behavior, such as sleep patterns or moods.

• We also know that the ER and the Police Department will have more staff on hand during the Full and the New Moon because people's behavior is more out of pocket during those times.

Seasonal Birth Effects on Personality

• Scientific Fact: Research in psychology and medicine shows that the season of birth can influence personality, physical health, and life outcomes. For example:

  • People born in winter might have a higher risk of certain conditions like depression.

  • Seasonal factors (temperature, sunlight exposure, maternal nutrition) during pregnancy and infancy can affect development.

• Link to Astrology: Astrological signs are based on birth dates, which align with seasons. These real-world seasonal effects might explain some perceived patterns.

Solar Activity and Human Behavior

• Scientific Fact: Variations in solar activity, such as solar flares and geomagnetic storms, can affect Earth's electromagnetic field, impacting human health and behavior, including mood and sleep quality.

Biorhythms and Planetary Cycles

• Scientific Fact: Some biological cycles (e.g., menstrual cycles) coincide roughly with the lunar month (about 29.5 days), which explain cultural connections between human life and celestial patterns.

Astronomy-Based Navigation and Agriculture

• Scientific Fact: Early civilizations used celestial observations for practical purposes, like navigation and determining planting seasons.

I believe it is fair to say that WE are CONNECTED with the Celestial Bodies. As Above So Below.

NOW, Let's look at the 8 scriptures that speak to Astrology and/or the Celestial Bodies.

Job 9:7-9"He speaks to the sun and it does not shine; He seals off the light of the stars. He alone stretches out the heavens and treads on the waves of the sea. He is the Maker of the Bear and Orion, the Pleiades, and the constellations of the south."

• Mentions constellations, recognizing their existence as part of God's creation honoring God.

Job 38:31-33"Can you bind the chains of the Pleiades or loosen Orion’s belt? Can you bring forth the constellations in their seasons or lead out the Bear with its cubs? Do you know the laws of the heavens?"

• Acknowledges the order of celestial bodies as a testament to God's control. The mentioned of Orion's belt is Astrology and the Interpretation of it.

Amos 5:8"He who made the Pleiades and Orion, who turns midnight into dawn and darkens day into night, who calls for the waters of the sea and pours them out over the face of the land—the Lord is his name."

• Attributes the creation of celestial phenomena to God once again.

Deuteronomy 4:19"And when you look up to the sky and see the Sun, the Moon, and the Stars—all the heavenly array—do not be enticed into bowing down to them."

• Warns against worshiping celestial bodies. Astrology is not a WORSHIPING, it is an INTERPRETATION of the celestial bodies to gain KNOWLEDGE and UNDERSTANDING.

Isaiah 47:13-14"Let your astrologers come forward, those stargazers who make predictions month by month, let them save you from what is coming upon you. Surely they are like stubble; the fire will burn them up."

• Isaiah criticized Babylon's reliance on astrology for guidance and gave an OPINION about it while baring witness to it. Question is... why wouldn't you, Isaiah or God want you to be saved from what is coming upon you if it is to help you? He was speaking to those that was trying to get out of an upcoming punishment, because in 1 Samuel 6:2-3 The Philistine consulted diviners to decided how to return the Ark of the Covenant to Isreal. 1 Samuel 9:9 is referred to as a Seer, who Saul saught guidance from about lost donkeys.2 Samuel 24:11: Gad is described as David’s seer, providing divine guidance. Joshua 18:10: Lots were cast to distribute land among the tribes of Israel. 1 Samuel 10:20-24: Lots were cast to identify Saul as Israel’s first king. Leviticus 16:8: Lots were cast to determine which goat would be the scapegoat on the Day of Atonement. Jonah 1:7: Sailors cast lots to determine who was responsible for the storm, and the lot fell on Jonah. Acts 1:26: The apostles cast lots to select Matthias as Judas Iscariot’s replacement. Throughout the rest of the Bible (and this is just a few) they had NO PROBLEM consulting Seer, Prophets and Casting Lots, which is a form of Divination, similiar to Tarot Cards. They casted lots to find their answer assuming the answer came from God.

Matthew 2:1-2"After Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the time of King Herod, Magi from the east came to Jerusalem and asked, 'Where is the one who has been born king of the Jews? We saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him.'"

• The Magi (wise men) followed a star, often linked to ancient astrological knowledge. The Magi were likely scholars or priests from regions like Persia or Babylon, where astrology was highly developed. They would have been familiar with celestial phenomena and their symbolic meanings. In ancient astrology, significant celestial events (e.g., conjunctions, comets, or new stars) were often interpreted as omens signaling major political or spiritual events, such as the birth of a king or the rise of a significant leader. So astrology is BAD but it was used to find Jesus, the one that is considered in the bible to be the Savior?

Luke 21:25"There will be signs in the Sun, Moon, and Stars. On the earth, nations will be in anguish and perplexity at the roaring and tossing of the sea."

• Suggests celestial phenomena as signs of significant events. Luke is literally INTERPRETING or PREDICTING an Event using Astrology.

And finally MY FAVORITE....Genesis 1:14-18"And God said, 'Let there be lights in the expanse of the heavens to separate the day from the night. And let them be for Sgns and for Seasons, and for Days and Years.'"

• This suggests that celestial bodies were created for marking Time and Seasons and there will be SIGNS WITHIN THEM. THIS is One of the FIRST reference to Astrology and of all the scriptures the ONLY one that states "God said...". All of the ones following Genesis are people speaking of their experience with Astrology.

Nowhere in the bible does God say DO NOT associate yourself with Astrology. In fact, many times it is uses to PREDICT Major EVENTS or GAIN KNOWLEDGE. Not even in his LAWS God gave directly to his people OR in the Ten Commandments did God FORBIDE Astrology. Not one place does it mention that Astrology is of the Devil.

How can something God CREATED be used to glorify the Devil if He, God Himself said they are for marking Time and Seasons to help the people he created navigate through life. Because truth be told, if Astrology is EVIL... well... Calendars would fall into this catagory of EVIL as well. Because You INTERPRETE and determine the TIME, DAY, WEEKS, MONTHS, YEARS, SEASONS (Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter), Birthdays, Anniversaries.... all with Calendars.

But somehow Calendars are "okay" but INTERPRETING the Celestial Body is... bad?

Instead of DEFAULTING to it being of the Devil, why not see it as another tool to get messages FROM God since He created the Sun, the Moon, the Stars and the Planets?

Being made aware of the MESSAGE He has for you that is based on the Interpretation of this Planetary Alignment... you may need to focus on your health, or prepare to find another job or this time is more favorable to buy that house.

Or that based on the Interpretation of that Planetary Alignment... your wife might be more irritated or that your husband may be feeling a little down or it may not be a good time to take that trip.

Oftentimes people beg, cry and pray for a sign, when the answers are written in the Heavens. Astrology give you the answers that you need and allows you to PREPARE for something you may need to make life a little better. A Heavenly HEADS-UP on live, love and everything in between.

Astrology doesn't take away your Free Will nor does it require one to worship it. Only an Interpretation of the potential energies around. You still have to make the decision, but now you have a little more information to make the decision that is best for you, your family, your life and your future.

I understand that people FEAR what they don't understand, what they haven't studied and what they haven't read. And It is easier to subscribe to FEAR rather than to obtain KNOWLEDGE, WISDOM and UNDERSTANDING. The bible says that...People perish for lack of knowledge (Hosea 4:6) and we all know that Ignorance is Bliss.

But To REFER to the INTERPRETATIONS of the Celestial Bodies that God CREATED... HIS CREATIONS in the Heavens as... "of the Devil"... is and insult and is truly DIABOLICAL! -Tondalaya Aje.
